Dr. Tedford's office is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:30am to 5pm, and on Saturdays by appointment only. We are closed Thursdays for surgery.

Please bring the following items with you to your appointment:

1. Your current glasses and sun glasses if you will have a dilated, full eye exam
2. A picture ID
3. Your insurance cards (if applicable)
4. A referral (if your insurance requires it)
5. A list of medications you are currently taking

During your eye exam your pupils may be dilated for viewing inside your eye. If you do not feel comfortable driving when you are dilated, please bring a driver with you to your exam.

What Happens During an Eye Examination?

Dr. Tedford and his assistants ask about your current symptoms and review your medical history. Eye drops to dilate your pupils may or may not be used during the exam.  Dr. Tedford has different strength eye drops for people who are sensitive to dilating drops.

The examination typically evaluates:

  • visual acuity
  • need for eyeglasses or contact lenses (refraction)
  • eyelid health and function
  • coordination of eye muscles
  • pupil response to light
  • side (peripheral) vision
  • intraocular pressure (pressure inside the eye)
  • anterior segment in the eye, including tear film, cornea, iris, angles and lens
  • the interior and back of the eye including vitreous, retina and optic nerve
